Crow Chief
Meadows is a 67 lot development located
3 ½ miles southwest of Absarokee in
the foothills of the Beartooth Mountains of south central Montana.
The property is 60 miles from Billings, the largest city in Montana
with an International Airport and some of the best medical facilities
in the northwest.
The property
is located on a Stillwater County maintained dead-end road less
than one mile from the Rosebud River. There are more than 600 miles
of trout streams in the county and abundant wildlife in the area.
Sightings of whitetail and mule deer, turkeys, upland game birds,
fox, rabbits, coyotes, bobcats and porcupine are an almost daily
occurrence with

bald
eagles and golden eagles cruising overhead searching for prey.
We are 65 miles
from Yellowstone Park and there are three ski runs in the area.
Red Lodge Mountain is only 30 miles away. The Beartooths are only
25 miles away on a paved road with hiking trails to give you easy
access to the Beartooth Plateau and the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness.
At an elevation
of 4,500 feet you will experience the cooling mountain breezes in
the summer and the occasional Chinook wind (called the "snow
eater" by the Crow Indians) in the winter to melt the snows.

The closest
town to the subdivision is Absarokee with a population nearing 1200.
It was established in 1892 when the Crow Indian Agency was moved
from the Rosebud Valley to near Hardin, Montana and the Rosebud
and Stillwater area was opened to homesteading. Here you will find
excellent schools and a summer recreation program for baseball,
softball and soccer. There is a well-staffed community swimming
pool, an active Senior Citizens Center, a Community Center with
youth activity programs and a little theater

group that performs twice each year. There are eight churches, two
banks, a Medical Clinic with a full-time doctor and a Physicians Assistant
on staff. Stillwater Community Hospital is located at Columbus, only
14 miles away. There is an active Civic Club, one of the best Volunteer
Fire and EMT Departments in the state, the Stillwater Quilters, the
Lions Club and many other organizations. Absarokee is not only beautiful,
but an excellent place to live and raise a family. |

Stillwater
Valley
North of the great blue mountains
Where the Stillwater winds it's way
A green and fertile valley lies,
and it's there that I would stay.
The river winds between it's banks,
Here silent and so still:
While there it rushes and foams along
Like a wild mountain rill.
The cattle graze in pastures green,
the sheep on hilltops high
While far and wide down the valley's side,
The farmer's houses lie.
Beside the road the flowers bloom
Pines on the hillside green
And the mountains loom in the southern sky,
With their peaks of eternal snow.
Like a living jewel the valley glows,
In the light of the setting sun,
When the purple haze on the distant hills,
Shows that the day is done.
So come to this Stillwater Valley,
Enjoy it's beauty so rare;
Here's rest and peace for the weary,
And hope for those full of care.
